The Belief Behind the Work
Every philanthropic effort companywide traces back to one idea. Status Labs believes in second chances, and that belief is published in the official mission statement.
That principle is not a slogan attached after the fact. Rather, it shapes what causes Status Labs supports and why. Organizations serving people experiencing homelessness, people reentering society after incarceration, and animals waiting for adoption all offer the same thing: a path to a better outcome.
Incomplete Sentences: The Current Flagship
Incomplete Sentences is the most visible expression of Status Labs' philanthropic commitment. Launched in March 2026, it is a yearlong social impact initiative created with the Lone Star Justice Alliance, a Texas nonprofit that reforms the criminal legal system for youth and emerging adults.
The campaign centers on the lived experiences of people who received serious sentences for charges they faced as minors. Rather than reduce those people to case numbers, Incomplete Sentences combines personal storytelling, education, and advocacy to show what is lost when a single narrative does not tell the whole story. It is built on the premise of what we lose, as individuals and as a society, when the sentence does not tell the whole story.
What makes the campaign distinct is the form the service takes. Status Labs contributes its actual professional capability, digital storytelling, and reputation expertise, as the donation itself. The work spans the family of agencies under The Millbrook Companies, and full details are available in the official launch announcement.

How Status Labs Gives Back
Status Labs' social impact runs across three consistent pillars:
- Pro bono professional service. Status Labs applies its core expertise in digital reputation and storytelling to causes that need it, currently through Incomplete Sentences and previously through a partnership with Defy Ventures, where the goal was for team members to coach people leaving incarceration on resumes and job applications.
- Employee volunteering. Team members have spent volunteer days serving meals, gardening and landscaping, caring for shelter animals, and cleaning public spaces across the company's office cities.
- Charitable giving. Status Labs contributes to local and national causes each year, spanning housing, education, animal welfare, small business support, and disaster relief.
A History of Community Investment
Long before any campaign carried a name, the Status Labs team showed up for its city. Over the years, that work has included:
- Caritas of Austin. Teams returned repeatedly to prepare and serve lunch at the downtown food kitchen serving people experiencing homelessness.
- Community First! Village. A hands-on volunteer day at the development that provides permanent housing for people leaving homelessness, doing gardening, landscaping, and pathway work.
- Urban Roots. Service at the Austin urban farm dedicated to food access.
- Austin Animal Center. Dog-walking and shelter days in a city proud of its no-kill status.
- Central Park clean-up. The New York team's own contribution to its city.
- Amplify Austin. Annual participation in Austin's citywide 24-hour giving day, supporting organizations across housing, education, and animal welfare year after year.
These efforts were never grand gestures. They were a team choosing, consistently, to spend time on something larger than their own work, and they built the foundation that Status Labs' pro bono campaigns now stand on.
